Origin Europe

Native to Europe, the Alnus glutinosa Imperialis or Cut leaved Alder is a rare tree, with a drooping pyramidal habit, which stands out for its finely cut foliage, very bright in spring, but also for its flowering in the form of greenish, hanging catkins, very decorative.

The leaves of the Cut leaved Alder, deeply laciniated in narrow and pointed lobes, reminiscent of the foliage of a fern, are light green. They stay on the tree for a long time.

The fairly slow-growing Alnus glutinosa Imperialis reaches a height of 8 to 12 m for a spread of 4 to 5 m. Undemanding and easy to cultivate, it settles in any type of soil, preferably cool, rich in humus and exposed to the sun or partial shade. Rustic, it supports negative temperatures ranging from -20° to -25° C, it is very resistant to diseases and harmful insects. A maintenance pruning is enough for it, you will simply remove the dead wood.

You are sure to appreciate the slender appearance and the lightness of the foliage of Alnus glutinosa Imperialis if you set it up isolated in your garden. It can also have a nice effect in a grove or on the banks of a body of water.
