Description
An ornamental deciduous tree native to the United States, the Gleditsia triacanthos inermis Sunburst or Sunburst thornless Honey Locust is a thornless variety of Gleditsia that stands out for the superb spring yellow colouring, very bright of its foliage. Indeed, the finely cut leaves, resembling a fern, are a magnificent golden yellow at bud break, then they turn tender acid green in summer to finally take a pretty coppery yellow hue in autumn. In May, small clusters of elongated, honey-like flowers open, creamy white, they will not bear fruit.
Medium-sized tree with a conical port and then spread out, from 10 to 12 m in height for a spread of 6 to 10 m. The Gleditsia triacanthos inermis Sunburst will advantageously replace your parasol by offering you a light shade, letting the light pass, pleasant in summer.
Hardy and resistant to pollution, it tolerates heat and drought as well as waterlogged soils. It grows in all types of soil, even the poorest, but it is best if it is cool, well drained and exposed to the sun.
Planted in isolation, the Sunburst thornless Honey Locust will reveal all its elegance and lightness. Supporting pruning, it can also enter into the composition of a hedge.
Grafted plant.
