Quercus Myrsinifolia, also called Bamboo-leaf oak is a remarkable tree native to the mountains of East Asia. It is distinguished by its evergreen and unique foliage, with lanceolate leaves reminiscent of those of bamboo. Its adaptability makes it a popular choice for any garden.

The Quercus Myrsinifolia is a visual spectacle all year round. It is a medium-sized tree with a spreading pyramidal habit, which can reach a height of 5 meters and spread over 3 meters, with slow but constant growth. Its evergreen foliage, bronze when it bursts, then becomes deep and shiny green, it contrasts superbly with the dark and smooth bark of the tree. In autumn, some leaves take on a reddish hue and fall off if the climate is too cold. Bamboo-leaf oak produces charming little acorns. In the spring, its inconspicuous blooms add to its appeal.

Quercus Myrsinifolia prefers acidic to neutral, well-drained and humus-rich soil, and exposure to the sun or partial shade. It is resistant to negative temperatures down to -15 °C, as well as to diseases and parasites.

To plant Quercus Myrsinifolia, dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball of the tree. Place the tree in the hole and fill it with a mixture of garden soil, heather potting soil and compost. Stake. Water thoroughly after planting and continue to water regularly for the first year. It is not necessary to prune it.

Whether you plant it alone for its majestic appearance or in a group to form a natural hedge or in alignment, Bamboo-leaf oak is a real asset to your garden. It will fit perfectly into a Japanese decor. It is a long-lasting investment that will become the centerpiece of your garden! This oak can live up to 250 years
