Lagerstroemia indica Alba, a generous white bloom.

Native to China, Lagerstroemia indica Alba or White Crape myrtle is a magnificent shrub that is of interest in every season. It offers a brilliant and generous summer bloom of a magnificent pure white, a deciduous foliage which is adorned with flamboyant autumnal colors in orange-red tones and a very smooth light brown bark which, with age, exfoliates in patches, particularly highlighted during the winter.

Lagerstroemia indica Alba is a spreading shrub that can reach 3 to 4 m in height for a width of 2 to 3 m. From June to October, abundant panicles of crumpled white flowers 20 to 25 cm long bloom at the tips of the twigs. The leaves are initially green and shiny, turning orange and coppery red when autumn comes.

White Crape myrtle is resistant to cold from -15 to -18 ° C. To develop well, it needs heat. You will expose it to the sun, sheltered from cold winds, by planting it in neutral and well-drained soil covered with a good mulch that will keep the humidity at its foot in summer and protect it during severe frosts. At the end of winter (March), you will prune it severely to optimize its flowering.

Splendid shrub with an exotic look, Lagerstroemia indica Alba is suitable for isolated, in clumps or in hedges.
