Description
Native to China and Japan, the Poncirus trifoliata Flying Dragon or Trifoliate Orange Flying Dragon is distinguished by its tortuous dwarf habit, as aesthetic as it is unusual. Its melliferous flowering, pleasantly scented, and its pretty round lemons with velvety skin, make it a very beautiful ornamental tree. Hardy, the Trifoliate Orange Flying Dragon withstands temperatures down to -20 ° C. Its rapid growth allows you to take full advantage of all its qualities.
Ideal for small gardens, the Poncirus trifoliata Flying Dragon has a spread of 1 to 1.50 m and a height of 1.50 and up to 2 m after ten years. In April and May, it is covered with white flowers with five petals before producing, in autumn, beautiful hairy lemons with fragrant rind. Mainly decorative despite the fact that they are edible, these very acidic fruits work wonders in Potpourri or in natural arrangements. The Trifoliate Orange Flying Dragon also has dark green deciduous foliage which displays spectacular shades of yellow before it falls, revealing its tortured and very aesthetic branches.
Easy to grow, Poncirus trifoliata Flying Dragon is planted in acidic and draining soil and thrives in the sun, in pots, in a bed or as a defensive hedge.
