Description
Physocarpus opulifolius Diable d'Or®, a magnificent purple foliage.
Physocarpus opulifolius Diable d'Or® or Ninebark Diable d'Or® is an ornamental shrub that will seduce you with its evolving foliage ranging from coppery bronze tones in spring to dark purple red tones in summer, highlighting its rosy summer flowering.
Beautiful shrub with a bushy and dense habit, with a height of 1.50 m to 2 m for a width of 1.50 m, Physocarpus opulifolius Diable d'Or® displays in spring young coppery shoots turning purple in summer. Its leaves of a beautiful orange-purple color, shiny and cut, turn dark red in the fall. From May to July, it offers umbels of pinkish-white flowers contrasting beautifully with the foliage, followed by very decorative reddish berries at the end of summer.
Easy to cultivate, resistant to diseases and very resistant to cold (down to - 35 ° C), the Ninebark Diable d'Or® appreciates a slightly acidic, cool and well-drained soil. You will install it preferably located in the sun to obtain maximum coloring of its foliage.
The Ninebark Diable d'Or® is ideal for coloring your hedges or flower beds. You can combine it with other shrubs with lighter foliage such as Physocarpus Opulifolius Dart's Gold and Caryopteris Clandonensis Hint of Gold to form a nice contrast of colors. It will also be perfect in isolation.
