Description
Forsythia intermedia Spectabilis: an explosion of color in spring.
Forsythia intermedia Spectabilis is an ornamental shrub native to China and Japan, heralding the awakening of nature. It is especially appreciated for its rich bright yellow bloom that lights up the garden in the very beginning of spring, spectabilis is the most flowering variety of Forsythia. In fact, in March-April, before the appearance of the foliage, the branches are covered with a multitude of bright yellow bells grouped in small bouquets. Then, later, light green, elongated, toothed leaves develop.
Forsythia intermedia Spectabilis is an upright shrub that reaches a height of 2 m to 2.5 m with a spread of 2 m. It finds its place in isolation on your lawn, but also in hedges, associated with other spring flowering shrubs such as Weigela or Chaenomeles, or in beds. Easy to grow, very hardy (down to - 25 ° C), Forsythia Spectabilis adapts to any type of soil, even limestone, rich in humus, humid and exposed to the sun. To make the most of its superb flowering the following year, you will prune it severely towards the end of April and remove the old branches.
A must-have in your garden, Forsythia intermedia Spectabilis will offer you a show all by itself, from the beginning of March, thanks to its extraordinary and generous golden yellow bloom.
