Superb maple native to Japan, Acer shirasawanum Aureum or Golden Fullmoon Maple will surely seduce you with its remarkable golden foliage, changing with the seasons. Small in size (4 to 5 m in height for a width of 3 to 5 m) and slow growing, this species, with an erect, flared and compact habit, is ideal for small spaces.

At the beginning of spring, Acer shirasawanum Aureum takes on large palmate leaves of golden yellow color tending to tender green in summer to take on a splendid coloring in orange tones in autumn. Before the leaves appear, beautiful purple flowers open in erect clusters, followed by red winged fruits called samaras.

The Golden Fullmoon Maple is a very hardy tree (down to -18 ° C). It appreciates a soil that is preferably non-calcareous, fertile, cool and well drained. To preserve the beauty of its fall foliage, it requires shaded or semi-shaded exposure, avoiding the scorching summer sun.

The Golden Fullmoon Maple will be perfect in rockery or in clumps associated with shrubs of heather earth. Planted in isolation, it will ignite your garden with its magnificent colors from spring to autumn.
