The Black Elder Haschberg or Sambucus Nigra Haschberg grown in Austria, has been specially selected to produce fleshy black-purple berries in abundance : perfect for jams ... and for gourmands!

This fruit-tree shrub with green-gray hollow wood is typical of European climates : from the first days of spring, its long curved stems adorn itself with dense and homogeneous green foliage.

Flowers in slightly fragrant and honey-coloured white umbels appear in late spring (May-June).

Medium (H4m / 2m at maturity), it will enhance perennials, whether planted in a grove or isolated, in the sun or partial shade.

Rustic and fast-growing, it is easy to maintain thanks to its self-fertility without pollinators.

But Black Elder Haschberg offers you other great surprises! Known for its virtues since Antiquity, elderberry is a little "doctor" of the garden: away mildew, its leaves accelerate composting and berries attract birds that will take care of aphids. Its bark would have antiseptic virtues. Finally, its flowers are also edible and appreciate in syrup!

Its ease of maintenance, its aesthetic, medicinal and taste qualities make Sambucus Nigra Haschberg a gardening tradition keeper for the pleasure of all!

Black Elder Haschberg arrived safely in Ireland

I'm very happy with my new elder plants, they survived the posting very well. Just wondering whether the polystyrene packaging could be changed in the future and replaced with something compostable such as shredded paper. At this day and age, the zero waste message should become a higher priority.
The response and communication with Jardins du Monde was swift and efficient.
