Description
The Japanese cornel dogwood comes from China and Korea, it is very hardy, it can withstand the harshest winters (-25 ° C), it has the distinction of offering very early in the season (February) a generous winter bloom which covers the entire tree with tiny bright yellow flowers with a very pleasant scent, this one brings back the garden with its contrast, while none of its leaves is still out, in March the foliage appears, it is opposite oval leaves of dark green color.
The edible fruits of this dogwood are eaten raw or cooked in jam, which is also very popular with birds.
In the fall, the foliage of the Cornus officinalis becomes red-orange.
This tree is easy to grow and is ideal for small gardens.
