Camellia Mary Williams
Camellia reticulata Mary Williams
Description
Camellia reticulata Mary Williams or Camellia Mary Williams is a shrub native to Korea and Japan. This species is highly prized for its understated elegance, with its early, fragrant flowering from February to April, offering delicate semi-double pinkish-red flowers with yellow stamens on sublime, glossy green evergreen foliage. With a compact, upright habit, Camellia Mary Williams averages 1.5 to 2 metres in height with a girth of 1 to 1.5 metres at maturity.
The Camellia reticulata Mary Williams is rather hardy, it can withstand temperatures down to -15°C and prefers a semi-shaded position. To reveal its full potential, it needs to be planted in heather soil mixed with potting soil or garden soil. It can be placed in a bed, a hedge or in isolation: it adorns the garden beautifully with its sumptuous blooms and its pretty green glossy leaves.
The Camellia Mary Williams appreciates regular but not excessive watering: mulching the soil is recommended to keep the soil cool. To encourage flowering, it is advisable to regularly remove dead flowers and periodically enrich the soil with well-decomposed leaf compost or heather soil. A light pruning (optional) can be carried out from May to June: it is a subject that requires little care once well established.
