Ripe Corn Witch Hazel
Hamamelis intermedia Ripe Corn
Description
The Hamamelis intermedia Ripe Corn or Ripe Corn Witch Hazel , native to Asia and North America, is an elegant and mysterious deciduous shrub that at first glance has leaves that resemble those of the hazel tree. It is winter that it reveals its strangest charm with its unusual flowering. Indeed, in January and February, it offers a magical spectacle when its bare twigs are covered with bright yellow flowers, delicately scented, with slender and wavy petals, similar to spiders. Then appear the leaves of a beautiful pure green which adorn themselves in the fall of a magnificent orange-yellow color turning to flamboyant red.
The Ripe Corn Witch Hazel, with a flared port and slow growth, reaches 3 m in height for a spread of 3 m at maturity, it is perfectly suited to small spaces.
Hamamelis intermedia Ripe Corn can stand the cold and can withstand temperatures down to -18 ° C. Choose for planting a place in the sun or partial shade. Install it in acidic, light, fertile, not too dry and well-drained soil. Prune it if necessary, removing dead branches in late winter or early spring.
The Ripe Corn Witch Hazel deserves its place in your flower beds where it will offer you all the luminosity and magic of its winter flowering.
