Origin United States

The Gaura Lindheimeri is a real asset to any garden. This perennial native to the United States owes its name to the German explorer and botanist Ferdinand Lindheimer. This one is easy to grow.

Beeblossom white is characterized by long flower stalks emerging from its green foliage often punctuated with dark red spots, these leaves are finely toothed and develop in a rosette from the ground, forming a tuft. The white flowers are preceded by pink flower buds, they are starry with four petals and provided with long stamens, gathered in spikes on long 60 cm stems, they bloom from late spring to early autumn. All of these flowers swaying in the wind are inevitably reminiscent of small white butterflies, these, very melliferous, attract a multitude of foraging insects. It should be noted that by removing faded flowers as you go, you encourage the production of new flowers. This will allow you to extend the flowering period to 6 months. These pretty cut flowers can decorate your interior for a week.

With a rounded and compact habit, the Gaura Lindheimeri must be pruned at ground level at the beginning of March, with vegetation starting up again at the end of this month. Fast-growing, it will develop up to 1 m high and will form a clump 50 to 70 cm wide. Each foot having a lifespan of more or less 4 years, your Beeblossom white clump will develop despite everything, because it will reseed itself spontaneously and continuously.

The Gaura Lindheimeri is very resistant, we do not know of any diseases or pests. In addition, it is very resistant to drought, its main asset. It adapts to all soils provided it is extremely well drained, the only thing it fears is the rotting of the collar in the event of stagnant water, so ideally, it is interesting to butt the plant. Exposure to the sun is its preference, but it adapts to partial shade.
