Description
Betula Pendula Schneverdinger Goldbirke is also more simply known as Golden-leaved Birch . It is also known by the names of "Golden Beauty" or "Golden Cloud".
The inflorescences of the Golden-leaved Birch appear in April in the form of catkins. The young triangular, serrated leaves light up in a bright yellow color contrasting with the reddish hue of their petiole. Then, the gold ornament gives way to a lime green foliage resistant to the heat of the summer sun. After the splendor of autumn, the betula pendula Schneverdinger Goldbirke strips off and further reveals its beautiful silvery bark which becomes lighter from year to year.
The Betula Pendula Schneverdinger Goldbirke naturally has a harmonious shape and brings elegance to the garden. To fully appreciate it, you will plant it in isolation. Around the age of 20, it will reach ten meters for a span of 5 to 6 meters.
The Golden-leaved Birch gladly evokes the charm of English gardens however it comes to us from Lower Saxony in Germany. Günther Horstmann, nurseryman in the town of Schneverdingen, obtained it, around 1975, from a sample taken from a nearby natural site, the Lüneburg Heath. Betula Pendula Schneverdinger Goldbirke will appreciate finding conditions that remind it of its homeland. Preferably offer it a light, sandy, fairly acidic and a sunny exposure. Very resistant (-45 ° C), let it grow on its own and do not prune it.
