Description
Caryopteris Clandonensis Heavenly Blue is a summer flowering shrub that offers magnificent lavender blue flowers in spikes from August to October. It is also called "blue beard" or "blue spirea" because of its resemblance to these plants. The Bluebeard Heavenly Blue is native to Asia and measures 0.80 meters in height and width and forms a compact, rounded bush. Its fine, toothed leaves are gray-green in colour and are very fragrant.
To cultivate Caryopteris Clandonensis Heavenly Blue in the garden, you should preferably choose a sunny location; it prefers light, well-drained soil that is not too rich, even sandy or rocky, because it does not tolerate stagnant humidity or drought well excessive. Bluebeard Heavenly Blue should be planted in spring, spacing the plants approximately 80 cm apart. It is necessary to water regularly the first year, then moderately thereafter, especially in case of strong heat. Ideally, you should also add an organic fertilizer in spring to encourage flowering.

It can be planted in clumps, in borders, in free hedges or in pots on a terrace. It goes well with other perennial or shrubby plants, such as asters, rudbeckias, rose bushes or lavenders. To protect the Bluebeard Heavenly Blue from the cold of winter, you must mulch its base with dead leaves or compost and cut its branches to 20 cm from the ground at the beginning of spring, its flowering appears on the year's wood.
