Description
Ribes sanguineum King Edward VII is a flowering shrub that stands out for its spectacular spring bloom. Its clusters of tubular flowers, of a brilliant pink red, attract the glances and the pollinators from March to May. They are followed by edible but not very tasty fruits that look like gooseberries. These are very popular with birds.
The foliage of the Flowering currant King Edward VII is deciduous, it strongly resembles that of the fruit currant. It is dark green above and lighter below. It takes on yellow and orange hues in the fall, providing a nice contrast to the reddish stems.
The Ribes sanguineum King Edward VII reaches a height of 1.50 to 2 meters and an identical spread. It is fast-growing and bushy. It is very hardy and withstands temperatures down to -20°C.
To prune the Flowering currant King Edward VII, simply remove dead, diseased or tangled branches after flowering. You can also shorten the longest branches to maintain a harmonious shape.
