Description
Bamboo Fargesia Rufa is an ornamental plant that offers many benefits. Originally from China, the Fargesia belongs to the family of non-spreading bamboos, that is to say that it does not produce underground rhizomes that invade the ground and overflow into neighbours. It thus forms compact and regular clumps, which can reach 2 to 3 meters in height and spread over 1 m. Its culms are green and measure between 0.3 and 1.5 cm in diameter. Its leaves are also green and evergreen, giving it a decorative look all year round.
Bamboo Rufa is a hardy plant that resists frost well. It can withstand temperatures down to -23 °C without suffering damage. It likes cool, humus-rich, but well-drained soils. It does not like drought, which can cause its leaves to turn yellow. It is therefore necessary to make sure to water it regularly, especially in summer and in pots. It likes both sun and partial shade, but you should avoid too hot exposures.
Bamboo Rufa is a versatile plant, which can be used in many different ways. It can be used to create screen or windbreak hedges, thanks to its dense and compact foliage. It can also be planted alone or in a group, to bring an exotic touch to the garden. It can also be grown in pots or containers, on a terrace or a balcony. It adapts to all spaces and all styles.
Bamboo Fargesia Rufa is an easy-to-grow plant. To plant it, you must dig a hole at least 50 cm deep and wide, and put some potting soil or compost in it. You must then place the plant in the center of the hole, making sure that the collar (the base of the culms) is at ground level. It is then necessary to fill the hole with the extracted soil, packing well around the plant. It is necessary to water abundantly after planting, and to keep the soil moist during the first years.
To prune it, cut the culms to the desired height, respecting the natural shape of the plant. Avoid pruning too short or too severely, so as not to weaken the plant. It is also necessary to remove dead or damaged culms to promote the growth of new ones. Pruning can be done at any time of the year, but it is best done in spring or fall.
Bamboo Fargesia Rufa is therefore a non-spreading bamboo that has many advantages. It is beautiful, resistant, versatile and easy to maintain. It is an ideal plant to
