Description
Extremely productive, the Hardy kiwi vine female Ananasnaya or Actinidia arguta Ananasnaya, gives tasty fruit with a surprisingly pineapple-like taste and smooth skin, which can be eaten without peeling. This female variety is pollinated by the self-fertile Issai or male weiki variety.
The Hardy kiwi vine female Ananasnaya can withstand cold temperatures of up to -28°C. When fully grown, it reaches 3 to 4 metres in height and 1 to 2 metres in width. It has attractive deciduous foliage and creamy white flowers in May and June. It then bears small, elongated fruits, which are harvested between September and October. When ripe, the smooth, green skin of the kiwai is red on the side exposed to the sun. When tasted, the green, fragrant, soft and very sweet flesh is irresistibly reminiscent of pineapple. To be eaten fresh or in a fruit salad. Actinidia arguta Ananasnaya kiwifruit have a long shelf life.
The Hardy kiwi vine Ananasnaya appreciates full light and thrives in all well-drained soils. It can be planted against a trellis or wire mesh, in the ground or in a container. Actinidia arguta Ananasnaya is pruned every year in March, with two eyes on the fruit-bearing branches.
