Description
Corylus avellana Fertile de Coutard or Hazel tree Fertile de Coutard is an old variety, vigorous and very productive. It is distinguished by a rapid setting in fruit, early flowering and fruiting giving from mid-August very large rounded fruits, flattened on two sides. It is one of the French varieties which produces the largest fruits.
The flowering of the Hazel tree Fertile de Coutard is in the form of hanging catkins for the male flowers which bloom in February-March and in the form of red spikes for the female flowers. The hazelnuts are of good taste quality, the almond is firm, ivory white in color and very fragrant, they are eaten fresh, roasted, grated or powdered.
