The Seville orange or Bitter orange, Citrus aurantium , is cultivated for a long time for its famous oil of Neroli or the manufacture of water of orange blossom, its persistent foliage slightly serrated releases powerful aromas as soon as this one is crumpled, its white bloom is deliciously scented and melliferous.

The Seville orange is self-fertile, its flowers once fertilized by pollinators in the spring produce large oranges that mature around November / January, the fruits are mainly used in marmalade, syrup or to make liqueurs. type Cointreau, Grand Marnier ... or macerate in wine to make the orange wine typical of the Mediterranean region.

This orange tree does not die during the first frost, because it is one of the few citrus fruits that can withstand some important negative temperatures, in our regions it should be grown rather in pot in a mixture of potting soil, garden soil and fat gravel, preferably with citrus fertilizer 1x per month.

During the cold winter months it is prudent to store it in a cool and bright place, do not hesitate to release it in the spring, choose a sunny place to give it a chance to be pollinated.

Plant grafted onto a Volkamariana rootstock.
