The Féijoa or Pineapple Guava is a magnificent evergreen shrub with green leaves and silvery backs. Beautiful flowering in June-July, pink with long carmine red stamens which gives it an airy and exotic air, the white-silvery falls highlight the flowers, this one is edible, sweet with a banana taste. Féijoas are self-fertile but perform better if they cross-pollinate with another subject.

The fruits of Féijoa are edible, tangy resembling small kiwis with thick, wrinkled skin, the flesh is yellowish white with a flavour reminiscent of guava, pineapple or strawberry. Picking is done in the fall and is most often done on the ground, when they are picked from the tree they can continue to ripen at room temperature. The fruits of the Pineapple Guava tree will only appear if the temperatures are mild as in regions with Mediterranean climate, they need heat to develop and ripen since the harvest is done in the fall.

Féijoa has a very good resistance to cold, down to -10 °C but leaves the strain after severe frosts of -15 °C. Its growth is average, it grows about 20 cm per year and will reach a maximum of 3 m for a spread of 1.50 to 2 m.
