It is very productive and will produce a large quantity of very firm and fragrant hazelnuts, easily outperforming the common hazelnut tree.
Hazel tree Webb's Prize Cobb is the preferred shrub for the production of quality, great tasting hazelnuts. This English variety is cold resistant to -18°C. It reaches a height of 4 m at maturity and spreads over 3 m, its flowers bloom from February to April, they appear as pale yellow catkins, which will then produce elongated, very fragrant and firm-fleshed hazelnuts. These large hazelnuts usually reach a diameter of more than 2 centimetres and will be ready for harvesting from late August to September. The hazelnut tree is nevertheless a very decorative shrub with a bushy habit. Its deciduous leaves are rounded and cordate. It is the ideal companion in the creation of a greedy hedge.
