California palm
Washingtonia Filifera
Description
The California Palm, Washingtonia Filifera, is fast growing, this beautiful Palm with large, almost round palmate leaves, edged with white threads, is very present on the Mediterranean border where it can withstand temperatures down to -12°C for short periods. In our regions it should be grown in a large pot of at least 10 litres.
The California Palm is easy to grow, a simple universal soil is enough, as soon as the sunny spring days return you can put it out on the terrace until the end of October, a special palm fertilizer twice a month is ideal for its growth and its foliage will quickly become impressive and luxuriant which will certainly bring a note of exoticism to the garden throughout the summer period.
For the winter, a cool, well-lit place is sufficient to store it from November to the end of March with reduced watering.
