Abyssinian banana Maurelli
Musa Ventricosum Maurelii
Description
The Abyssinian banana Maurelli or Musa Ventricosum Maurelli is a majestic plant, native to India, with large foliage with red lapels, often used to bring an exotic or colonial atmosphere to our verandas and terraces. Well installed in a large pot it is not uncommon to see it bloom from July to September, the growth of this banana is very fast, it can reach 2 to 3 meters in a few years.
The cultivation of this banana is very easy. Put it in a pot of 5L the first year with a mixture of potting soil, large gravel and soil preferably rich in humus. Keep the substrate moist during the period of growth with a contribution of 2x universal fertilizer per month, from May to September.
Wintering is done in a bright room, with a decrease in watering and fertilizer until the following spring.
To accelerate growth, we advise you to repot banana in larger and larger pots from year to year with fresh substrate, until the size and thickness of the desired trunk are achieved.
