The Fairy Rose
Rosa The Fairy
Description
Rosa The Fairy, or The Fairy Rose, is a variety of ground cover rose. This species, with its generous bright pink blooms, is very easy to grow and very resistant to disease. The Fairy Rose has medium green, semi-evergreen foliage and small double flowers in soft pink clusters.
The Fairy Rose can reach a height of 75 to 90 cm and spread out from 90 cm to 1.50 metres. It is best planted in spring or autumn, in deep, well-drained soil with a sunny or semi-shady exposure. Fairly hardy (down to -15°C) and undemanding, it is an elegant addition to a bed, embankment, rockery or border and can even be grown in pots. The Fairy Rose is an excellent ground cover plant: with its low bushy habit and small double rosette-shaped flowers of 3 to 5 cm, which appear abundantly from June to October and then continue to bloom until early November (until the frosts).
Like most roses, Rosa The Fairy requires annual pruning: in autumn or early spring, leaving two to three eyes. To encourage growth and flowering, it is advisable to remove dead or damaged flowers and leaves regularly. Abundant watering at planting, followed by regular and moderate watering, will help it to take root in the first year. Once well established and after mulching the base to keep it cool, it requires little water.
