Description
Schizophragma hydrangeoides Moonlight, or Japanese hydrangea vine Moonlight, is a delight for flower lovers with its beautiful white flowers. Absolutely sublime in summer, this compact climber is ideal for the shade and is also distinguished by its beautiful silver-green foliage.
Cold hardy to -20°C, Schizophragma hydrangeoides Moonlight is 4 metres tall when fully grown, with a spread of 2 metres. It has an upright, compact habit. In the summer, its deciduous foliage with its silvery sheen illuminates dark corners of the garden. In June and July, the plant is adorned with tiny, creamy white flowers in large, attractive clusters.
Japanese hydrangea vine Moonlight thrives in fairly rich, cool, low-limestone soil. Suitable for shade and part-shade, it spreads upwards thanks to its spiky stems, but can also be used as ground cover. Schizophragma hydrangeoides Moonlight can be grown in the ground or in a large container, in a mixture of soil and potting mix, with the root ball buried 5 cm below ground level. To encourage flowering, simply remove the spent flowers.
