Description
The Campsis tagliabuana Madame Galen is a vigorous and decorative climber with large, brightly coloured flowers. It is very attractive along a wall or on a pergola, and can also be pruned to form a shrub thanks to its solid base, which becomes sarmentous over the years.
The Trumpet vine Madame Galen is a particularly successful cross between Campsis Radicans and Grandiflora. Hardy to -18°C, it reaches 3 to 6 metres in height when mature and is 4 to 6 metres wide. The deciduous foliage has downy underside leaves that are larger than the standard variety. Campsis tagliabuana Madame Galen blooms spectacularly and generously from the end of June to mid-September, and even October in some regions. The beautiful salmon-orange, trumpet-shaped flowers measure 7 cm in diameter. They are gathered in terminal clusters of 7 to 12 units.
Easy to cultivate, the Trumpet vine Madame Galen appreciates all soils, provided they are moist and draining. It is planted from April to December, incorporating sand into the garden soil if necessary. In the first few years, a mulch at the foot will protect Campsis tagliabuana Madame Galen from frost.
