Description
Fargesia Rufa is a species of bamboo native to China. It is a fast growing, non-spreading bamboo that can reach a height of 2-3m and quickly form a nice clump. Bamboo culms are green and the foliage is dark green. The cane of this bamboo have a diameter of 0.3 - 1.5 cm.
Bamboo Fargesia rufa is cold hardy and can tolerate temperatures as low as -23°C. It prefers to grow in moist, well-drained soils and does not tolerate drought conditions. When planting, it is best to choose a location that receives sun or partial shade, can be used for hedging, or simply planted in a large pot. It supports the pruning very well.
The foliage of this bamboo is dense and makes a good compact screen. It is also a popular plant for erosion control along small streams.
Bamboo Fargesia rufa is easy to care for and requires little maintenance once well established.
